Italy-based insulation manufacturer Thermore has introduced Ecodown Fibers T2T, a thermal insulation material made entirely from recycled polyester sourced within the textile supply chain.

According to Textile World, the product combines 80% post-industrial textile waste with 20% post-consumer PET bottles, representing a shift toward textile-to-textile recycling in performance insulation applications.

The material is designed for use across fashion and performance outerwear, where lightweight warmth and durability are essential.

A Shift Toward Closed-Loop Textile Systems

The launch reflects a broader industry transition from traditional recycling models toward closed-loop material systems, where textile waste is reprocessed into new textile products rather than diverted into lower-value applications.

Historically, recycled polyester has relied heavily on plastic bottles as feedstock. However, this approach does not address the growing volume of textile waste generated during manufacturing and post-consumer use.
